Information used for dismissal
Schools provide student names, school identifiers, classes, guardian relationships, pickup authorizations, and dismissal plans. Users provide an email address and basic profile information. Optional vehicle information helps staff recognize a vehicle. Schools may record restricted pickup information in confidential office notes.
Location is checked only when requested
DismissLane requests browser location when a parent asks to check arrival or check in. The server uses the submitted location to evaluate the school boundary. It retains the geofence result for the pickup event, not raw coordinates, a trip route, or continuous location history. Location never authorizes student release.
Who can see school information
Access depends on active school membership and role. Guardians can view only children linked to their account with view permission. Teachers see their own assigned classes and verified release requests. School administrators manage records and confidential restrictions. Pickup staff receives the information needed to verify authorized handoffs.
Messages, cookies, and storage
Passwordless verification, invitations, and important account changes use transactional email. Student names are not included in dismissal emails. HttpOnly session cookies support sign-in; they are not advertising cookies. The application does not include advertising trackers or student analytics. A staff member may explicitly save a limited roster to the current browser tab for up to four hours; it is cleared on sign-out.
Retention and school requests
Schools configure a retention-review interval. Operational audit evidence is append-only and retained pending an authorized review; this setting does not silently delete history. Expired authentication challenges, rate limits, and pickup-pass redemptions can be removed by the maintenance job. Contact your school to review access, correct student relationships, or request a retention review.
Service providers and questions
Deployment uses hosting, database, email, and optional asset-storage providers configured by the school service operator. These services process information needed to deliver DismissLane. Contact your school first about student records or pickup permissions; use the contact form for platform questions, without including confidential student details.
